An Angel's Gift
Who do you work with
“We work with men and women, couples and singles, who wish to start or grow their families but need donated eggs to do so. We work with people from all walks of life who need donor eggs for various reasons, and we consider ourselves honored each time we are trusted to participate in their personal and emotional journeys to parenthood!”
What do you do for them
“In a basic break down, we match our clients with egg donors and then coordinate the logistics of the cycle with them, their clinic, and their egg donor. This involves a lot of moving parts! All clinics have requirements that must be met like legal clearance and donor psychological evaluations that we arrange. We also set up escrow, arrange complications insurance and genetic counseling of the donor, and act as a traveling agent for donors who do not reside in the same state as the intended parents. We wear many hats at An Angel's Gift - sometimes we feel like we play the role of a counselor when holding the hands of our clients and donors navigating the emotional aspects of a cycle (good and bad!), or that of mediators and travel agents... etc. At the end of the day, the hat we enjoy wearing the most is one of service and friendship to both our donors and intended parents.”
Why do you do what you do, particularly as it relates to surrogacy/growing families?
“Each staff member of our organization has a different calling they feel they are fulfilling. I started this company due to my love of entrepreneurship matched with my desire to serve others. We have an on staff IVF nurse who navigated her own infertility journey, and other staff members who wanted to say they were doing something more than pushing paper. They wanted to do a job they felt good about. Not that there is anything wrong with pushing paper of course! Every job serves an important purpose, but we definitely feel our purpose, and our jobs are unique. I think we all share in a common goal of wanting to be a part of something bigger than ourselves to make a purposeful and meaningful difference in the lives of others.”
What is your favorite part of your job?
“Hearing our recipients and donors say "Thank you"... Sometimes our jobs are hard and appreciation goes a long way! However, my ultimate favorite part of this job is the opportunity to snuggle those precious babies, and getting photos and Christmas cards of course!!”
What is your favorite memory or story from working at your job?
“There are so many, it truly is hard to narrow it down to just one! I cherish the memory of getting to hold our first set of "AAG babies" (and trying not to get all emotional!). I remember tearful recipient mother (who was the first of many) telling me over the phone that she feels like she couldn't have done this without us... Of course, I won't pretend to take that credit since there are so many people involved in overcoming infertility, but I remember that being the first time I realized we were truly making a difference.”
How do people get in touch with you/start working with you?
“If you are a recipient parent you can simply register online to view our database of available donors. It is free to register, and there is no obligation to use our services if you do so. If you are a woman who is considering donating your eggs, you can apply online and speak with our staff about the process to see if egg donation is a good fit for you. Our staff includes an experienced egg donor, an IVF nurse, and people with big hearts who genuinely want to help!”
